My yard project is coming along. My pond is beautiful. Thanks to the wonderful people on Craigslist I got some fabulous ornamental grass for around my pond and a TON of saltillo tile for my patio extension and thanks to my neighbors wastefulness I went scrounging through the alleys in my neighborhood today and got a bunch more tile, 24 cool 60's style cinder-blocks, some 4x4 lumber, a whole bunch of trellis material for my grapes, a giant flower pot and a bunch of really large river rocks for around my pond. Thanks to the wonderful people at MTX I got a decommissioned giant wooden crate which I have turned into a storage shed. And thanks to the Habitat for Humanity building materials thrift store I found an exact match to the color of my house paint for the aforementioned "shed".

So far I have hardly had to buy much of anything. It is so cool. I have spent a lot, because of course there is always shit to buy for shit, like the "free" pond I got cost me a lot by the time I bought the pump and the materials to make the filter I made for it and the plants for it, which I did not get for free. And the water conditioner and the charcoal and you know the drill, just lots of little stuff, cement mix, stucco, sealant, glue, nails, other hardware. Now if I could get 12 tons of gravel dumped in my side yard I would be SOOOOooo happy. Gravel is really expensive right now though and since I need 12 tons, it is so heavy it would be a PAIN in the ass to get enough from a yard who is trying to get rid of it. I fear my recycling and energy conserving nature is going to take a break and I am just going to break down and order the gravel delivered from the quarry, as much as I hate to do it.

I hope when I'm done I can post some photos, I hope the yard really becomes a showplace of recycling and ingenuity smile
