How is everyone? I wanted to do a little check-in as I’m very excited for my weekend plans! I am very excited because today is Juneteenth, happy Independence Day Everyone!!! Historically today signifies the last enslaved people being told nearly 2.5yrs after the Emancipation Proclamation that they were free. Culturally, it’s a time to celebrate culture, love, food, swag, and heritage of African Americans.
Last year my celebrations were magical and pretty hard to top!! I was in South Central LA at the most lit street fest with these fellow SG babes @penny @milloux! We laughed, danced, ate yummy food, ate Jell-O shots and celebrated in love with everyone there—masks on of course ;)
This year I’m starting our day off with an amazing hike at one of my most favorite local locations here in Alaska!!! Then we are headed downtown to the city-wide Juneteenth celebrations. Because Monday is summer solstice we are gonna take part in the street fests and music that last until midnight☀️I’m so excited to be outside and sharing in all the joy. With so many things to smile about this weekend I hope you all take some time to be merry and hold your loved ones close✨
