Hey SG Land,
How’s it going? I’ve spent the last 6 weeks of quarantine with a special emphasis on trying to balance my social awareness with my mental health. Some day, are admittedly harder than others. On one hand there’s the will to be in the trenches daily fighting for what’s right...checking people, advocating for the disenfranchised and trying to be an empowering source of energy in the community. On the other hand, I too can be overwhelmed with the daily triggering reminders of my existence in this country and I’m content just to make it through the day with my sanity. I recently found myself jumping at the chance to do some real selfcare last weekend!!
Thanks to @penny I got to spend the weekend in LA staying at an amazing rental she picked out with a private pool!
It was such a relaxing, energizing weekend! A few girls came over to shoot with her and I got to meet @pennyarcher! Not to mention spent the weekend also with @sarissle and @milloux :)
last Friday was Juneteenth🥳we went to Leimert Park in South Central LA...it’s a historically Black neighborhood thriving with locally owned business and also where Issarae shoots Insecure!
it was *just* the love my spirit needed to soar again. I’d been feeling a bit down but wow. Surrounded in a sea of so many beautiful Black bodies, culture, smiles, swag, and joy celebrating Independence Day felt so dang good.
In addition to being an amazing human, a hilarious housemate and an all around gracious babe... @penny leveled up when she introduced me to the best VEGAN donuts I’ve ever had😍Donut Friend in LA was too good for words.
On my final day there Marina gave me the scoop on Wurstkuche!! So bomb....I had the duck+bacon dog w caramelized onions and truffle fries😩RIP my waistline I’m still digesting this day haha

Recently I had another surgery a few days ago. I’ve just been resting at home sleeping+munching all the snacky snacks my heart desires haha. I’m okay w physically feeling like crap when I’m still on such a spiritual emotional high💙anywho, hope you’re well. Thanks for letting me share!
