Baseball is one of the most superstitious sports out there! And Wrigley Field is home to one of the longest running urban legends of the league.
It all starts when back in 1945 William Sienis was asked by William Wrigley--stadium owner--to leave the ballpark during game 4 of the Cubs home game during the World Series. They said the odor from his pet goat Murphy was irritating the other patrons. Sienis, infuriated at this, on his way out turned to say "them Cubs...they ain't gonna win no more!" With that the Cubbies were cursed, and their fans to become deemed the "loveable loosers"😩The Curse of the Billy Goat was born. The Cubs lost that World Series in '45 and waited 71yrs to play in one again. Ironically, it was on the 46th anniversary of Bill Sienis' death that the Cubs defeated the LA Dogers 5-0 in game 6 to punch their ticket to this years 2016 World Series. Spooky👻

It may sound silly to some....but this curse is NO JOKE. People have lived and died without seeing their team make it to the World Series on account of this Goat. What's more, there have been plenty of shady incidents happening in and around Wrigley Field with people reporting smells of "barn animals" when the stadium was apparently empty. Who knows if it's broke but I'm sure hoping this is the season to once and finally put this urban legend to rest!! Go Cubbies💙😆
