well, i have to go under the knife tomorrow. a minor procedure, but it will require a general anesthetic. i hate dealing with doctors and the whole medical process. for a lot of reasons. one of those reasons is that they always ask you all these probing questions about your personal life - your drinking practices, your drug practices, your sex habits and i don't know if it's just me being paranoid or what, but i always feel like when i answer they get really judgmental. does this happen to anyone else? like just now, for example, a lady called me from the hospital for my "surgery pre-screening." and she gets to the part about my drinking habits, and this is how it went:

lady: do you drink alcohol? (like are there that many people that would actually say 'no' to this?)

me: yes.

lady: how often do you drink? once in a while? a couple of times a week? daily?

me: daily.

(long pause)

lady: how many drinks per day? more than one?

me: um, yeah.

(pause)

lady: more than two?

(like, what? the difference between one drink per day and two makes some kind of critical difference? are we going to have to go through the entire numerical system until she guesses the right answer? i could only imagine what horrible things about me she was scribbling on her pad.)

me: pffft. at least.

well that put an end to that line of questioning. i'm surprised her next question wasn't, "how many 'e's are in 'hopeless' again?"

on average, i have about two six packs a day; that's if i'm not going out or anything, just relaxing after work. that's not bad, is it? i think everyone has different constitutions when it comes to this kind of thing, and that amount for me personally is just right to give me the proper equilibrium in life. but try explaining that to a "doctor." why has the medical community declared a jihad on relaxation?! mad

oh well. in other news, i'm getting evicted. just found out. i've got three months to get my shit together and get the fuck out of here my run-down studio in georgetown, where i've lived and produced below-average work for almost three years. * tears up * i wouldn't mind taking this opportunity to move to another city, but i've still got probably another two to three months of business here in DC that i absolutely have to take care of, so i guess i'll move someplace else here, and maybe look for a short-term lease. after that. i don't know.

only other thing worth mentioning is that my computer (essential for my livelihood) died. i've got another one - an alienware laptop - on order. scheduled to ship oct 9, so maybe getting here like the 15th? i've got a jerry-rigged back-up system set up that will get me by in the mean time.

i need a drink
