finally back from texas. i have absolutely nothing interesting to report. nothing was accomplished. it was like having one of those dull-frustrating dreams where youre trying to do something simple, like get to school across the street, and youre thwarted again and again and again for stupid reasons cant find a shoe, get derailed by some mundane request by a stranger
most of my time was spent trying to write and then email my last three stories. both tasks kept failing again and again, so i missed my deadline. first my hotel when i got there couldnt give me my room right away, so i was homeless until well into the evening. (they seemed completely overwhelmed by a massive conference that was being held there that was called i kid you not the Conference for the Management of Adult Sex Offenders.) so that delayed the writing part. then i couldnt find a computer with the both internet access and access to the drives. the business center at my hotel was under renovation. and the same was true for just about every other hotel in the city, apparently. finally i got the stories emailed late monday.
then on tuesday, after spending most of the afternoon and evening in the airport (drinking), they finally tell us at about 9pm that the flight is permanently cancelled because of mechanical difficulties, so they put me up in a hotel room near the airport, and then i finally got a re-routed flight via St. Louis on wednesday, which made me miss another deadline.
this journal entry is boring even me.
this was a great little bar though:
it may not look like much, but its a really cool, laid back place with cool locals in it and a great jukebox. in fact, San Antonio as a whole is really growing on me, and its because the local people there have always seemed really cool. a great, tight community.
big props to all you San Antonio people out there.
i fly to the UK tomorrow.
