I started class today after not being in school for over a year and a strange phenonminon occured to me. The entire experiance was like none other. THE FIRST DAY OF CLASS. I walk in the building and I watch all the other students walking around aimlessly searching for classrooms. You know those individuals hanging out in the vicinity of your classroom are the ones you will be joining in this venture for the next six weeks, although nobody wants to look anyone else in the eye, let alone say hello and introduce themselves.

It's 15 minutes time until the class starts and the teacher has not yet arrived. Myself and the two other students stand uncomfurtably in front of the room not knowing what to do with themselves. I sit my ass on the floor and play with my cell phone and I'm reluctant to say hi because I don't want to make anyone uncomfurtable or whatever.

So one guy walks into the classroom and the other follows immediatly after. I'm stubborn, and not wanting to be a conformist I stay seating and realize eventially that I'm bored and follow the lead. So the teacher walks into the classroom and stays silent for at least ten minutes. She shuffles with papers and I'm reminded of many other teachers in the past doing the exact same thing, and I struggle to understand why everyone in this situation still continues to ignore the others presence.

The teacher finally says, "So if anyones adding the class, sign the form. I'm leaving for a minute so if anyone else comes in tell them to sign the form."

So new people come in. A few are like, "Um...psst... sign the form." And of course they don't hear that person because they're all self conscious to be the one to inform them and they don't repeat themselves. People smile at eachother and everybody in the entire class knows that the new person needs to know this information but they all feel silly and don't want to communicate this. So the teacher comes in again and says, "Did anyone else come into the class and do they know to sign in if they're adding?" A girl says, "She just came in." And she says,"Why didn't anyone tell her?" Everyone giggles and claims they were just about too even though the entire event was 20 minutes prior.

I'm sure you're asking yourselves... why didn't I say hello to the students? Why didn't I tell the girl to sign her fucking add sheet? Well... because why would I want to do that when watching people be awkward with one another is so much more fun?

im a contractor with Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority, I'm one of the armed patrol men. In translation im in a small group of elite armed security that forms the backbone of the transit security. we respond to any violent crime commited again VTA as well as all vandalism, disturbances, accidents, fights you name it. most likely we will get there before the police do, we have all the equiptment a police officer (guns, body armor, cars you name it) and we share many of their powers, while on transit property. This includes all lightrail, buses, bus stops, transit yards, vta lots and any other propery vta owns. Now for clarification i personally think most cops are assholes and i dont want to be one. but this job comes witha 8hr adrenaline rush and we are the hghest paid security n the bay (with the eception of some fed acconts)....the job isvery intensebut it isvery fun.....were basicaly who security calls when they need security... biggrin hope ths answers your question
