Michael Marano to Preview "Shibboleth" from collection _Stories from the Plague Years_ at Boston's Grub Street.

Award-winning novelist, Public Radio commentator and cultural critic Michael Marano will be reading from his novelette "Shibboleth", an original work from his upcoming collection _Stories from the Plague Years_, this MONDAY, JUNE 8th, 8PM at Boston's Grub Street, Inc., a non-profit creative writing center located at 160 Boylston Street in Boston (near the Park Street T Station).

Marano's reading will be part of Grub Street's "Summer Showcase", during which Grub Street students who have taken Grub Street courses, seminars or weekend workshops this fall will be encouraged to read excerpts from their fiction, non-fiction, poetry and screenwriting. Also reading will be Pushcart-nominated Massachusetts Cultural Council Poetry Fellow Ben Berman.

"Shibboleth" is a dark work of interior reflection in which a young man who has endured social upheaval and the imposition of martial law confronts, at times with deep regret, the individual choices he made to survive. Regarding Marano's collection _Stories from the Plague Years_, cult novelist, screenwriter of _The Crow_ and cyberpunk pioneer John Shirley has written "Michael Marano may be close to finding a bridge that could span the static-crackling void between the age of literature and the age of the Internet."
