So I wrote a novel size journal entry and then crashed before submitting it. frown

So here is the brief version:

It's taken me a week to fully recover from our cocktail party we had last saturday. I finally feel caught up and rested again. It was a great success, fun was had by all. Here's a little recap of some of the events and schemes:

24 nearly straight hours of preparation. Why didn't we start early in the week? Why put off today what you can put off tomorrow.

Living room moved to back yard- couches, lazy boys, coffee tables, chairs- surrounded by 10 tiki torches, surrounded by 12ft high banners of red, purple, and gold (left over props from the movie).

King's Quarters- In the back of the yard we had a walk-in miliatry tent filled with posh relaxation devices ie. pillows, matresses, bean bags, blankets. This was the "out" room...make out, chill out, smoke out, etc.

Dance floor- complete with disco ball, fog machine, cow skull shrine, torches, tasty beats, and shakin booties all nite long.

Concessions- The cotton candy machine was a big hit. A defiinite addition to any future party. Need to make better and more colorful alcoholic solutions for the sno-cone machine though.

Food and Bar- The dyn-o-mite Lyall sisters provided hors d'ouvres to boot! Stuffed mushrooms, warm artichoke dip, cheese and fruit plate, candies, sandwich wraps and more. I was sad to find no leftovers the next morning. Bar was fully stocked, in fact, we still have enough to seed another party.

Theme rooms-
Hall Of Tron- 30 ft blue rope light running on the ceiling, leading to rooms. Puffy space picture for touching.
Game room- with poker and roulette tables. I don't think anyone walked away losing or winning much actual cash, but a good entertaining thing nonetheless.
Padded Cell- covered the walls with matresses, then white sheets. Soft black light ambience only. One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest on repeat on a screen all nite. Next time we get a projector and get the whole wallside lit up with a movie.

Speical Events-
In honor of our good friends birthday, we built a life size replica of him, doused him in gasoline and burned him on at the stake- a 12 foot crucifix planted on the crest of the hill in our back yard. Fire danger was very high that day. Thought the helicopter that flew overhead was the authorities looking to shut us down. No fire, no bother, no authoritites.
Pinatas- 3 pinatas, each of them filled with little suprises. I was the puppet master. Much glee was had. Almost fell 20 feet onto my head from the treetop in front of all my guests when a branch I was standing on broke underneath me. Don't worry, I caught myself.
Snow- In our back yard at 2am it snowed. It wasn't real snow, but it was magical. Next time we get 3 snow machines. Real ones.

In conclusion-
No one died. Nothing irreplaceable was broken. No arrests. No drive by shootings. Only splendor was experienced out here in Adair Village. Makes it a little more sweetly sorrowful as I begin to forge further towards the Portland horizon. I will miss this spot. It only means we have to find something better up there so the parties can continue, and improve.

Well, this entry has turned out nearly as long as the other one. Whew. Ok. All I wanted to do was appease the cosmos and consecrate some of the highlights of that evening in writing. I have now done that. Now I'm gonna go have a snack.
mobprod:
That was a hell of a night. Pity I went down around 3. But fuck Adair. Sure, we've had some good times out there in the sticks, but fuck that place. Fuck it in its stupid ass. Portland, buddy. That's the key...
