I've been looking at a lot of online facebook groups and blogs calling for the death penalty of Vince Li, the man that shockingly and disgustingly and , in my eyes, most importantly, allegedly, killed the young Edmonton man Tim Mclean on a GreyHound bus last week in Manitoba.
I say allegedly as he has not been Convicted as of yet.
for those who don't know the story here's the LINK
As much as I am disgusted with the actions and the whole situation, I think it is ignorant for people to automatically call for the death penalty without knowing complete details of this persons actions.
Li was obviously a very "ill" individual but my question is: How come no one noticed any mental psychosis before? that kind of behavior just doesn't "appear."
Is it fair to say that because of the way he killed the man makes it ok to call for capital punishment.
If the columbine kids if they were still alive after their rampage.. would they garner the punishment? who knows.
What is, as a society, our train of thought?
it puzzles me.
I am not defending this man in any way but I am defending mental Illness.
I see ignorant comments online saying Canada is "unsafe" and that he should "fry."
when the dust settles and the shock subsides will you all feel the same way? i ask myself this.
I also think it is unfair for people to be disgusted with the passengers on the bus who apparently didn't so anything.
I think if any individual were to witness such a brutal act I believe flight would take over fight instincts.
It's not like disarming a person with a firearm.
I think for the safety of other people involved everything that could have been done was done.
I commend the driver for disarming the bus . if he hadnt who knew how far this incident could have gone.
I have to apologize to those who dont agree with me. I am just upset that people are forming opinions of the situation without the full story.
we as a society are judge, jury and executioner without facts. It just proves how uneducated we, as a society have become.

i'll have to add myself to the ppl that agree with you. a lot of people that are saying these thing are acting that way out of anger about the incident and not thinking things entirely through
