Wed June 6 @ NXNE

If you wanted to be disappointed by self-important know-it-alls, climb on boeard the Gibson Guitar bus.

It was the opening night party for all those attending NXNE. I was sort of excited. I would get to meet the people i am spending the next week with, free booze and most of all, kick of my week with some late night partying.

This was not the case.

As an "invite only" event I had RSVP'd about 2 weeks ago and I was now standing outside Union station waiting to hop aboard thie shuttle.

When I had finally figured out where it was picking us up, It had been about an hour.
"Oh Well," I thought. " It will be fun once I get there"

The bus was shameless. Filled with ,what I could only assume were, Industry people, This bus managed to live up to every stereotype that Joel had forewarned me about.

At least we got a free beer.

We finally arrive at our destination ( the Palais Royale) and we scurried off to get on with the schmoozing.

" If this party is filled with THOSE types of pretentious people, I am leaving, " Joel joked.

Joel and I filled our lungs with the deliciousness of nicotiene and wandered to the front door.
We both our names being on the guest list, I automatically assumed we would have no problems getting in.

"We are at capacity," said the doorman.

That is weird. If you RSVP to something and everyone who is going has to do the same, one would think they would have accounted for the number of people.

DId I mention it was only 1130?!?!

I stood there stunned.

" Are you going to be letting one in, one out?" I asked.

The doorman replied with an astounding "no."
he explained to me that with over 1000 people in the venue it wouldbe hard to get everyone to leave by 2 a.m. That is the biggest load I have ever heard.

I walked away pretty pissed.

We hailed a cob and went to a pub instead.

What a way to start off my week at NXNE............ This doesn't bode well.
aandp:
That is ridiculous.
Did they have any warning on the invite. Like first come, first serve??
