He is sooo upset at this interview.. i am posting it here so your guys can see what a douchebag the guy is...
NOTE TO MUSICIANS: If you aren't gonna take the interview seriously.. don't do it at all..
Sebastien Grainger is quite possibly the worst interview you can ever do:
1. Death From Above was described by some, as a wall of noise. How
would you describe the sound of your new solo project?
a mall of toys.
2. Funk music and Prince seem to be some influences on your new music,
what other artists influenced you when you were creating these songs?
nina simone,
3. What messages are you trying to convey with your music?
"bring me fresh oysters and hot sauce"
4. How did the Jewish Legend split occur?
over many afternoons of (too much) strong coffee.
5. I heard that you were going to be working with James Shaw of
Metric, what other musicians do you hope to work with in the future?
if by work you mean real estate ventures, i wouldn't wish this on any other
two musicians.
6. Any updates on the "Girl on Girl" project?
girl on girl was a way to make a bit of money in the "remix" craze....
leon drums in my band, so if you close one eye and nick disappears you can
pretend we're remixing his bass riffs.
7. What instruments do you play on stage? Can we expect to see you
stepping out from behind the drums?
guitar and singing. you can expect me to not step behind the drums.
8. Have you been offered any record deals from labels yet, such as Last
Gang?
yes.
9. When did you and Jesse Keeler know that Death From Above 1979 was no
more?
it was a cold rainy winter night, the new snow was glazed over shining like
diamond desert dunes under the street lights.
it hadn't been the same since the accident, or rather he hadn't...he had
become more machine than man, i could tell that the freezing rain would rust
his gears but i didn't care...that's just it...i didn't even care!!! this
robot was going to rust and fall apart and all i could think about was
expensive cars. we were once a force of nature, but now, at the dawn of
early man's glorious arcane freedom we walked side by side...man and
machine. it was totally weird man.
10. In Jesse's post on the DFA website in August, he said that you two
had "grown apart", are you guys still talking with each other?
(If you don't want to talk about this I fully understand)
what?
11. Do you have a consistent backing band yet?
leon and nick
12. How did you get involved with the "Friends in Bellwoods" project?
i'm a friend and i live near bellwoods.
13. You really seem to be utilizing your MySpace page, what is your
opinion on the effect that myspace has on marketing music?
it seems like a pretty good tool for communicating with people. i prefer it
to a message board because i don't have to hear what strangers think.
14. Are you going to be putting out an EP or a full-length any time soon?
yes and no.
15. You are about to go on tour with Bloc Party, some former label
mates of yours. How did you end up as an opening act for them?
my friend is sleeping with their manager.
Ryan is still turning this into a article.. keep your eyes open for it!
LOVE ALL!
