metamorphosis

well the first week of my new job is almost over. it's going well. everyone seems nice, though a bit dull. my last job had people who were MUCH more fun. it's been boring because of the "settling in time." monday was preoccupied with touring the site and setting up my computer. i actually got a laptop! not that that's a great thing, because if the weather's bad now they can expect me to work from home. but anyway. i've been bored out of my mind, doing not much more than reading technical journal articles all day. UGH. i can't get in the lab yet, because i'll be working with radioactive isotopes and i'm not certified yet. *sigh* they are super ultra careful because there are a lot of dangers, and horror stories about people abusing radioactivity. There was even an incident at the NIH where somebody spiked a water cooler with P32, and people drank from it before they realized, including a pregnant woman. scary, huh? but anyway, i think i'm gonna like my job. and i think i'm gonna be damn good at it.

we're moving on saturday and i'm STOKED. i hate the process of moving, but i'm beyond ready to have our own place. not only do i need space and quiet and privacy, but now i'll have both of my babies (snakies) living with me again! YAY! solly's only been staying with us because he had pneumonia and needed shots, but stella's still at my parents' house. i miss my girl. speaking of them, i measured them this weekend. solly had a growth spurt, he's up to 7'8"! stella is holding steady at 7'4". I love my big kids.

i might not be around much in the coming few weeks, until we get internet service set up in our new place. leave me some love!
