Today I celebrated my niece Rosita’s 13th birthday. Holy smokes how time flies, I remember the day she was born. My sister Ariana called me in a panic that Elliana was giving birth and to meet them at the hospital. I still had a vehicle at this point so I left work and headed to the hospital kind of buzzed from the excitement of being an uncle two times over at that point. Juan was 12 at the time( Rest In Peace Juanito) him and I hung out in the waiting room playing slap hands and talking in funny voices until the doctor came out to the waiting room. Excited for our new family member we jumped up headed into the room. My sisters were all smiles, baby Rosita was so adorable it was hard not to love her. Elliana couldn’t think of a name for her, I saw some rose bushes outside the window of the hospital. So I said why don’t you name her Rosa. Little did I know that 13 years later she would blossom into a smart, funny, and talented young lady. I was a proud uncle today when she told me that she was happy that I gave her, her name because roses are beautiful and so is she. It made me a little misty.
