so...i worked on my self-portrait final project for about four hours last night only to become exceedingly disappointed with how it was coming out. so i pretty much ruined it by scribbling a mass of hair atop my carefully detailed and shaded face. gah. i'm artistically frustrated. or challenged.
i didn't really have a plan for where that drawing was going anyway...the assignment is to express an emotion so i automatically leaned toward a negative one...but still, i didn't really know how to convey this symbolically rather than just through the pose, facial expression, and color scheme.
so maybe i'm glad that one sucked. i started a new one...this time trying to express the feeling of love or maybe even happiness...but my simple mind is not cooperating so it's turning out to be just an average picture of jesse and i together looking happy from a photograph. i figure i'm going to go with reds...mainly because i spent 32 bucks at aaron brothers yesterday on red pencils and red pastels, etc.
whatever. i'm so through with this art class. i hate the projects. they got really monotonous toward the end. maybe that's why i never did the last three??
project is due tonight so i better get on it.

The funny thing for me when i was in school was that i was constantly frustrated and did similar things(ruining pieces that were almost done),but now years later,for me, i find that i really got alot more out of those classes than i couldve imagined then.Try your best to really take in all thats goin on. I miss school and occasionally go sit in on figure drawing classes to just be around other artists/students and to try to still take in the things people have to say and teach.
