I like to think I can use beliefs like money
trade in my old baptism for a really good sandwhich and kettle chips

i'm also hoping it's gained interest
so i can get some good dessert, too.

like an eclair.

or some chocolates.

but i'm sure like my faded days of believeing
this youthful idealism
and naievete
will someday grow stale
to become croutons
for my future salad days

i sure hope i'm still eating eclairs
because i don't believe in diets now
and hopefully can stay that way until then

i'd really hate to look back in my old age
and realize i gained beliefs
instead of shedding them
