I have had a total of six artists tell me that they were interested (or even very interested) in illustrating my story "The Mean Tree" and I have yet to see ANYTHING of any value from any of them.
Now I understand being busy. I understand that "The Muse" must strike. I understand "Dealing with life's problems" (probably much better than most people), but why would an artist say they were going to do something than not do it. Especially when there was a few dollars (a very few) to be made in the effort.
I know if an artist had a pic or a drawing that they wanted a story written for and I agreed to do it. I would have, at the very least, a decent rough draft in their hands within two days.
Fortunately I have finally found an artist who is producing some excellent work and is even adding ideas beyond my own (which is wonderful). So I will keep my fingers crossed and will let you know when to except the release of...
