So I just got back from a Spoken Word show in Oakland, Tourettes without Regrets, hosted by Jamie Kennedy.

Jamie asked me to read but I wasn't feeling it and just watched the show. But I did get to speak to some old friends, amazing performance poets, and got several of them to agree to do my little show at the coffee titty bar (see three posts ago). All but one of the six poets that agreed to perform have been on HBO's Def Poetry Jam and the one that hasn't is the best poet I've ever heard, His name is Aaron Gardner, I was on a slam team with him years ago, and he doesn't do shows anymore but he will for me.

I admire anyone who can get up on stage in front of people and perform (no matter what the art form). My bf gets a rush playing his guitar onstage.
But for me--it takes the life outta me whenever I have to do something like that--so I'm in awe of those who are drawn to it...
