Btw i respect your opinion about not being inked.

Downtime

So I'm halfway through my week off from work and I have to say that I've got that weird feeling that I always get when I'm off work that weird " I don't usually have this much free time what do I do now?" feeling, I don't miss my job in the slightest I just miss talking to the people I usually see but...

It cost me a lot of pain too. -But I think it's worth all the pain.
Have you got any tats yourself?
Hope you can stand the heat, think the roads are melting here too. blackeyed

the road melted a lot in my old neighborhood.

All For One And None For All

Things at work are continuing on a somewhat downward slant, Justin King ( the head of the company) has started making "some changes for the better" according to what was in his last incredibly patronising newsletter. Apparently changes for the better somehow equates to pointless bureaucracy, exactly how filling in yet more pointless pieces of paper is going...

The heat drains me both physically and mentally. I feel so tired, but also my brain just seems to turn to sludge.
heavenandhell:
my cat is indeed confused by the hedgehog. he sits in the middle of the garden watching it wonder up and down the path. he looks at me every now and again as if the say WTF?????

take care.

Neighbours?
So I was just wondering do people actually know the other people that live on their street. The thing that made me ask is I realised today that I've lived on the same street for something like 15 years now and I couldn't tell you the names of hardly anyone on my street apart from the next door neighbour who I kind of know....

Thank you for your comment. smile

Fun & Games On The Bounty

So Ratfink is starting to change things and doing his best captain Bligh impression at the moment. His brilliant idea was to start doing the stock count at 2pm in the afternoon which is somewhat pointless really since you don't sell out of anything until later in the night which means it doesn't get scanned 'til the next day...

That's hilarious. I know you have to actually deal with this manager, but it's awfully fun reading about him.

Phantom stock? As in stock that never existed, or stock that's gone missing?
heavenandhell:
ratfink is just doing things for doings sake, he needs to listen and learn, not just go off half cocked.

thanks for your comment on my journal. it really meant alot.

take care.

Slightly Fucked Up If You Ask Me

So I found out today that a friend at work is supposed to be getting a disciplinary because she wrang work and told them she had to look after her kids who were both sick so she wouldn't be able to come in and I just thought how fucked up is that, like things aren't difficult enough for...

it's sad, but it's general. i had a similar thing happen to me when i worked at BT and my son was sick one day. they say they want women to go back to work, then they shit on them from a great height if they put their kids first. you can't do right for doing wrong.

take care.

northern:
A store scoreboard?

Why does that sound so sad to me?

And yeah, you'd think that maybe they might think something's wrong if people don't stay a long time with the job.

Introducing Ratfink

So the other day my department manager left to go work in another store and I'm pretty down about it really since she was the first manager I've worked with who was actually a human being and proved that contrary to the popular adage "you can never be friends with your manager" that it is actually possible to be good friends with your...

I always love when new management makes changes for the sake of change, rather than trying to figure out if anything actually needs to be changed.

And if you are a Centre of Excellence, it seems really quite bizarre to tempt fate with changes.
heavenandhell:
i hate change and i hate management so i'm with you there.

thanks for your comment on my journal. yeah, that teacher really sucked, but i think i scared her enough. i may only be 5ft, but when it comes to someone being nasty to my kids i can grow to 6ft suddenly. i wonder if being the popular kid also has it's drawbacks, you are expected to perform at all times and say the smartass things in class all leading to a distraction for everyone.

Somebody Help!

So as anyone who actually reads this stuff will know I've started driving lessons and last week I was driving 'round a carpark to get used to the steering or something which was a bit monotonous I must say but the funniest thing was when the guy who owned the BMW in the car park came back and saw me driving 'round the...

hey man, i'm now doing the same job as you!!
i work in a grocery store and learning to do a bit (or a lot) of everything.
warehouse, deliveries, stacking shelves, moving things about, helping customers, and everything in between.
shorter hours than my previous job, but a whole lot tiring.
northern:
Well, you probably are insane, but not because of a 90-minute commute to work. When I lived in Toronto, 90 minutes was considered average.

Of course, as someone who doesn't go to bed until 5am or even later, I do think it's insane to wake up at that time. smile

Flashback Part 2

After being out of work for about 18 months and witnessing the grim reality of drugs and deprivation as some of you will have read about earlier I finally got a fulltime job, which I thought at the time would be the end of my problems but little did I know I was swapping the limbo of unemployment for an altogether different...

I think everyone did the same thing with there profile you'll just have to edit it when you get the chance. I hear Electric Ballroom is a pretty good night out but I live miles away so I guess I'll never really know. I happen to really like the Goth look and I'm sure I'm not the only one here, I hope you show those indie boys what they're missing out on. Hope you get better soon.

If you ever get a chance to go to Electric Ballroom on a Friday, do so! smile Its totally worth it. Its my favourite night out and I don't think that'll ever change.

As for the party, i ended up missing out on it cos I was feeling as rough as sandpaper. I heard from my friend that there was some kind of gay orgy... I totally missed out! Perhaps another time...

Somebody's Gonna Get Canned
Just thought I'd share a rather amusing work related story apparently yesterday which was my day off one of the freezers on the shopfloor stopped working so all the icecream was put in the main freezer in the warehouse 'til the freezer got fixed only thing was somebody neglected to tell the night shift about the whole broken freezer situation and...

actually I DO have to "fit into a pigeonhole". Who said? my new employer. As a matter of fact. that's the FIRST thing she said. PacSun is short for Pacific Sunwear. It's a store in the mall that sells lots of surf, skate, motocross type-clothing. this is what its like:

wish me luck!
