Fish Out Of Water

So it was the 10th anniversary works do the other night and after being badgered about going for weeks on end I thought what the hell, being called a miserable antisocial sod all the time gets quite annoying. Upon arriving it suddenly dawned on me that I didn't know 90% of the people there so for about half an hour I was stood there just thinking "why the hell am I here?", after a while I spotted a few people I knew so I had someone to actually talk to but the whole thing seemed to be badly planned really. The venue was too small for a start apparently it has a max capacity of 250, there were about 100 odd people and it was pretty crammed. There weren't enough seats for half the people 'cause there was only space for 6 tables and they weren't exactly big which meant that myself and quite a few others ended up being stood up all night which is a little annoying to say the least. It was pretty much as bad as I thought it was going to be since there were only about 10 people there that I could actually talk to. Most ironic of all I hardly spoke to anyone from my department all night 'cause we just don't have anything to talk about even after the alcohol's kicked in despite the fact I see them five days a week. It made a nice change seeing some of the people I do know out of work but it's not something I would be in a rush to do again.
