Just Shoot Me
So I've just had the most utterly mindgrindingly dull and monotonous few days at work. It's starting to really get me frustrated when I'm getting up at 5am to go to a job where I feel like I might as well not be there by 1 in the afternoon and I don't finish 'til 5! Sometimes I'm so full of seething rage I could quite easily put my fist through the nearest wall. When I've got the whole learning to drive thing out of the way I might just think fuck it and find another job. I don't have a problem with having a grunts job, I put things on shelves for a living, what pisses me off is that half the time there's nothing for me to do. Sometimes I feel like I might sponataneously combust in the middle of the shopfloor.

Western Decay

So the other day someone showed the headline of his newspaper "Pregnant at 11" now it might just be me and my innocent childhood but when I was 11 I was too busy being thrown down the stairs at school to think about girls nevermind sex. I see it every week at work 12 year old girls discussing blowjob techniques and anal sex and it really makes me want to rinse my brain out surely that's just a bit wrong. I don't have a problem with people doing what they want to do but surely if you're going to do it you should take a bit of responsibility then we wouldn't have headlines like the one I mentioned.

You Read Books/You Read Comics!
So for anyone who
a) actually reads this stuff.
b) doesn't already know
I work in a rather large supermarket in a horrid shopping centre or "mall" which is full of all those horrid stores you usually get in horrid shopping centres. You know the ones I'm on about the 25 fashion victim clothes shops which are exactly the same aside from the different trendy names,Republic,Bank,Next,River Island, I could go and on, let's not forget the pokey little HMV store selling bland music to the bland people. So since I get an hour for my dinner break and there's nowhere to go I spend my dinner break reading stuff from Marvel Essential collection stuff and other assorted graphic novels to biographys and the like. This seems to be a somewhat shocking activity going by the reactions I've had from some of the people that work there.
" You read comics"( looks at me like my heads on fire), " Aren't they for kids?","What you reading that for?". I'm somewhat baffled as to why this provokes such a reaction apparently it's acceptable to read a newspaper but anything else and it's treated with the same reaction as a pink badger playing god save the queen on the spoons. I've just read Broken Summers by Henry Rollins and plan on reading his Black Coffee Blues books, which I have but like so many others are just sat on the pile waiting to be chosen like the kittens down at the petshop. At the moment I'm reading Under And Alone by William Queen which is really good I'm about 5 chapters in and it's definately worthy of what I've read about it. When I'm reading something I just completely zone out and everything just falls away,I tune out all the noise and cacophony swirling around me to the point where I don't even hear people who shout my name.

you know, that's kinda the reason i don't read comics on the train. coz i hate people's stares of "he's reading comic books, what is he, a kid?". Not that i should give a fuck what people think, but it just makes me uncomfortable sometimes. especially if i was to read'em at work. people just don't get it.
i was really into my G.I.Joes and Transformers toons as a kid, so when i come across a comic of either, i'm more than happy to lose myself in that universe for like an hour (i read them really slow, i just like to immerse myself in them so much).
yesterday a mate gave me a load of Silent Hill comics through zip files. i didn't even know there were Silent Hill comics!

11yr olds havin babies? i read the papers every day too. or ta least i used to when i was working. all i can do is shake my head and wonder if i'm living in the same world sometimes.
