Working at the bike shop has been a lot of fun. Yesterday, I went on an incredible ride after work with the shop owner, Barry, on some local trails. It was one of the most technical, and most challenging rides I've had all year. At one point, we had to walk our bikes through a 200 yard drainage tunnel. We had no lights, and the tunnel was barely high enough to stand in, not much wider, and the ground was a rocky creek bed. It was pitch black, so it was like the blind leading the blind. The other highlight was this very old train bridge. This rickety thing was about 200 feet long, and sat 30 feet up off a pond. We stopped for a while to make some repairs, moving some ties around and placing some boards acrossed bad parts. Here's a pic of Barry working on it.
After the ride, it was back to Barry's house for beers, and we had some great coversation about my future at the store. His girlfriend was making homemade pasta and sauce, and they insisted that I stay for dinner. The food was delicious, and it was a very nice night. I drove home afterwards after too many beers, but I made it home safely.
Well, I think I might drag my ass out for anothe ride this morning. It won't be long before snow is on the ground, and I want to ride as much as possible before that happens.
I just realized that I dominated my fantasy baseball league this year. Today is the last day of the season, and I'm so far in first place, it's just ridiculous. I was in first place for the whole year with the exception of five days early on. Wish there was some mone involved!

I had an awesome bike ride. I took the road bike out and did a brutal 33.5 mile loop. I only used the word brutal because about 20 of those miles were long, sustained uphill climbs. My legs were burning! I feel great, though. What a beautiful day!
