that is a very interesting question and it is one that has been debated for thousands of years by the worlds greatest minds. I beleive it was the Ancient Mesopotamians who first asked this question in the form of a pictograph depicting the young prince Gudea placing the royal flower in his beloved pony's ass. Flash foward a couple of thousand years and we find ourselves in Ancient Egypt where the Pharoe Amunemhet I who was actually buried with an Arabian Horse with a desert rose placed neatly in its ass for the trip into the afterlife. The Greeks on the other hand had a different take on the subject and perfered placing flowers in their own asses. This becomes clear in Aristotles 14th diologue on human essence. So you can see that this question is very complicated. I guess in the end it just matters on whar side of the fence you stand.
