The secret of Happiness is Freedom, and the secret of Freedom, Courage. Thucydides.
Nothing like a quote to make you feel better.
Today was ok. Nothing revolutionary, but I've laughed a little bit and haven't cried and that's a lot more positive than some days in the past week so I'm happy with a minor step.
It wasn't a good nights sleep but I did the best despite, and put on a smart outfit and heels to make me feel better. It worked to a certain extent, and made me realise the importance of taking time every day to make yourself presentable and attractive. I forget these little things sometimes, but it helps. I also decided not to eat junk all day and that its about time I start shifting the love handles and extra cup size that I've grown in the past few years. To help, I've signed up to a really cool website Nutracheck which has a little online food diary which you can fill out, picking from loads of foods across the supermarkets so you don't have to just type it in. It's really interesting, based on my height and weight I'm eating about 2400 calories a day. I don't eat badly by any means, but being a lot taller than most I do have large portions, and I pick/ drink/ eat junk as much as everyone else with not much exercise on top. It was bound to catch up at some point. This website says if I can reduce my diet to 1600 a day and burn 200 calories daily (easy!) then I can be at my ideal weight by the end of April, which is a bit of a winner. That is quite low for a diet, but I've only eaten 1400 today and I'm not hungry at all because I stocked up on loads of veggies. It is surprising how quickly little biscuits and things add up though, hopefully this will keep me on track and give me the incentive to get to the gym more often.
In between work I was looking at Oxjam, and making ideas for my own event in late June. I had started ambitiously, but had since had some tips and ideas from other folk which I think were a bit more realistic. I have some licensing/ insurance issues to get through but provided I can find a venue to comply, it could be a goer. I also had a phone call from a woman at Macmillan who was responding to an email I sent to her a while back, offering my event management services. She is really keen to get me involved in my local group which consists of two middle aged ladies and one coffee morning event a year. We're going to meet for a coffee in the next fortnight and chat about my ideas plus any internal training they could put me on. She even said if I wanted to make my own group or do things independently she'd support that. Promising things, and it may all add to my CV too.
I am going to bed now, because I am tired and need to have energy to get through the packing hassles of the week. We met a potential flatmate tonight, if she'll take us we'll have her on the basis that we need the money, but she isn't really what I was looking for. But then I'm in a bad place, maybe I'm just being unfair.
Until another time x
