My best friend sent me a text last night as I was falling asleep to tell me that she is engaged. She is now engaged to the most wonderful man, who absolutely adores her. They are so ridiculously in love and have been together for six years. We sent texts back and forth and I called her, she sent a pic of her ring, we talked about how great it all is and how it happened. We get off the phone, tears of happiness in our voices. And in the midst of thinking how wonderful it is that she is so very happy and excited and how much I love them and how great it all is, I have a burst of massive sadness. I am in my room bawling, suddenly having gone from happiness for my friend to despairing over the futility in believing in happily ever after.
Then I thought of how maybe it is all about simply finding as many little happinesses throughout life as you can, instead of longing for some great fairy tale epic. Then I wasn't so sad; I was a little hopeful. If I gather together all the little happinesses, I have a nice basket full of goodness and smiles and love that make my life bearable and even joyful right now. And these are fine enough to make up for all the pain.
So, even if their relationship doesn't make it to the grand finale, I wish for them enough little happinesses to make their life together worth it. And if you are reading this, I wish the same for you. kiss

That is such a great post. You are very sweet.
Love and the fairy tale dream are important. Those captured moments give us a lot of the stories of our lives.
