This was an eventful weekend.

In the previous 48 hours I only spent four of them sleeping. Friday was a regular work day finishing at 6:30 PM. Just as I was leaving work I got a call from a friend "ordering" me to hang out for drinks and a movie tonight. Seeing as I had no plans and was working at 7:00 AM the next morning, I thought to my self: Why not!?

I had four (mugs?) of beer which placed me in the comfortably fun tipsy zone bordering on sleepiness (almost 10 pm after an interestingly busy week). We went to catch the 10:35 screening of The Adjustment Bureau. I'm disappointed in my self. I fell asleep for the better part of the movie. I NEVER fall asleep and I even get a little ticked off at people who do fall asleep at the movies. But, I couldn't help my self. My friends tried many times to keep me awake including inserting a finger in my right nostril. All failed attempts. Then again, according to my friends I didn't miss much. There's something about Matt Damon and his movies that aren't so interesting if there's no intense action going on. Then again, he was good in Good Will Hunting and interesting in the Ocean's series.

I got home at around 1:30 AM and went to bed at two. I had to wake up at four to get ready for work. It takes me approximately an hour and a half to get to work but I always have to leave two hours ahead of time if I want to make it. The bus schedules on weekends are infuriating at times. So, I'm up at four and leave home by five. I get to work in good time. It was a normal day with nothing happening for at least two hours in the morning. No calls from UK stores.

Saturday was a friend/colleagues birthday. She woks in the customer service department. Her plan, with a few other work mates, was to meet up at an Ethiopian restaurant, fill up on some good food then go out to this club/lounge and booze/dance it up till the break of dawn. The night was supposed to start @ 8:30PM at the restaurant and I had been informed of these plans a mere hour before. Quick thinking in my selection of clothing and a swift and efficient shower session, I was ready to vacate the apartment. My dad, being his cool self, dropped me off at the nearest metro station. I arrive at the restaurant at the required time only to find my self alone and waiting. A half hour later the birthday girl arrives. We chat and wait for the others to arrive. At that point it's too late as the kitchen was closing in 15 minutes. Through the magic that is cell phone technology, she reorganized her troops and headed down to a small Spanish restaurant for a few empenadas and some small talk. Our stomachs well lined and satiated, we made our way post-haste to our final destination: Jello Bar.

This was the firs time I'd set foot in that place. I asked my friend what kind of crowd populated the club/lounge. Her answer was: Older black men. At first I thought she was joking around when she said older black men. But then, the more I thought about it the more I wondered what she meant by older black men. When I set foot inside, I instantly understood what she meant. Older as in 25+. For some people (older or same age) that's still considered young. But for me, being 25, I found it to be a different crowd from your usual clubs where you could find individuals that look and act straight out of high school.

All of a sudden I felt a "little" more mature. But, it didn't stop me from having fun.

The ambiance is excellent. It's a place filled with people who are out to have a good time without pulling off crazy shenanigans on the dance floor or on the couch. There's other places and times for that kinda stuff. The musical selection was on par with the age group of people. What I really liked is that they not only had a DJ but also a stage for a live band. I forgot to ask the name of the group playing but they were really turning up the heat.

All in all it was a great night out with some great people. I got home at four and finally slept at 4:30 only to wake up at seven, an hour late, for my nine o'clock shift. Sunday might have been the longest shift in the history of post-party shifts but it was worth the fun times spent only a few hours prior.

Here are a few pictures of the night and the people I spent it with:

Sorry if some of these are slightly out of focus. I was limited to using my 50mm AF lens and tried cheating by shooting at F11 with a flash. My only tool was the distance markers on the lens body. I'll try lower fstops next time.
