I've been feeling really dissatified and frustrated over the past few days. I think it's because I'm not working enough. Anyway, Grr.

I am sorry. I wish that I could do something to help you.

I am glad you enjoyed my story. These pop in my head a lot.

New favorite movie: Taxi Driver. DeNiro is my god, and the movie has this great "internal-ish narrative of one man going slowly insane", like American Psycho and The Machinist. I'm not really a fan of Scorcese, the pacing in him films throws me off. Also, Iwas sort of weirded out by the "acts of incredible violence engage a catharsis in the main character, then everything's...

I love taxi driver. Oddly its one of the few films that my housemate (now ex-housemate) actually liked. He didn't like most films and would usually decide in advance that he didn't like such and such a film by reading a review of said film. Once he had read the review, even if he could be persuaded to watch the film he still would insist that he didn't like it. If the film was mainstream, he would dismiss it as typical Hollywood trash, completely contrived and oh so insulting to his intelligence. If the film was something a bit arty or strange or with a plot that wasn't completely linear, he would dismiss it with the following comment "Sometimes an artist uses obscurity to hide a lack of substance". Its quite sad really, that someone could be so uptight that they can't enjoy anything!!

So what other films do you really like apart from taxi driver?

When I was at university, my hobbies included going for walks in the woods to look for plants and fungi (mostly to see if I could identify them and so that I got an understanding of what sort of flora grew in my locality - you'd be surprised what can be found growing even on roadsides and on bits of waste land) and talking about philosophy, science, religion and the occult (chatting with born again Christians was always good fun - "...you can't get to God with logic! You're surrounded by demons. I'm going to pray for you. I'm going to pray the demons away" muah hah hah!). These days I just sit around the house watching films and eating marmite on toast but every now and then I get my herbalism books out to see how much I can remember. I like reading. I still like to read non-fiction. Unfortunately, I often don't seem to be able to concentrate any more. I have lots and lots of books. Often, when I go out to buy someone a present, I end up seeing loads of books that I really must buy. Having bought the books and triumphantly taken them home, I generally read a few pages and then put them on one of my bookcases and leave them to gather dust for a few years before getting around to finishing them!!!

I haven't seen taxi driver in years. It did not catch my fancy.

Yeah she is not that old. she was in this movie I saw the other day If lucy fell. She was a child in that and I am sure it came out when I was in highschool, maybe college.

I hope that you do make jewelry and are able to sell it.

I will always have kind wishes for you.

We had our huge design class presentation for Mother Courage and her Children this morning. Overall, I think it was successful (even though Phil didn't dig my group's idea). I'm starting to see the mistakes I make as the mistakes that every young designer makes. Being a good designer is, like Peggy always says, just a matter of confidence.

My artistic skills are getting...

Broke my personal rule about over-the-counter drugs and took some nyquil for my cold, and I've been loopy for the past couple of days. This stuff has an incredible effect on me. Which is why I usually stay way from anything stronger than asprin. However, it's made costuming lectures a lot more fun.

I'm also in a terrific mood lately. Spring is here, my plants...

Oh my wow. The cheapest drink special around here is $2 happy hour... actually that's not so bad.

What kind of plants do you have? I had a venus fly trap, but it died.
roma_:
I want to buy a plant. I'm really obsessed with carnivorous plants but they're so hard to take care of. Any reccomendations on more hearty plants?

Switched my name for the third time since I've joined because I'm paranoid and I don't like random people following me from site to site.

So I know I'm updating a lot recently, but...

I was an intern on a PBS special summer-before-last, and while I was there, I absolutely fell in LUVRE with this stunt guy. He was gorgeous and tall and muscular and... yeah, you've got it by now. Anyway, I made a complete fool of myself, because he said I was sort of pretty and I thought...

Oh! And I'm so very in love with Nilo Cruz right now. I bought Anna in the Tropics on Amazon.com even though I'm scrambling to save up for my security deposit. He would be my favorite playwright of the moment, except he teaches at Yale, and that breaks my heart. Anyone from Yale Drama is way too important for me to ever, ever meet.

Also,...

Apartment hunting for the next couple days. There are some terrible places in this town. I'm pretty happy with a place I saw today (great little attic bedroom with lots of light, a great kitchen and a full bath), but my current landlord has to give me a good review. And he's a little bit nuts. He called today and sounded really bummed that we...

The Boy is going to San Francisco this week...

Very, very sad right now. I'm planning on listening to a lot of Billie Holiday and moping.
leftjab:
i know there's nothing wrong with it, and it's really no big deal. it still could be interesting to change a little bit though.

take care without The Boy. i do love the City across the Bay from me, so I can understand why he would want to visit. though i suppose that doesn't make it easier for you.
