It was warm today. Started early with a sunny morning. I miss the fog and overcast of not so long ago. It shall return, though. I feel that promise in the breeze as it plays through my hair.

There are always leaves on the ground. A few here and there. Right now, though... right now they are scattered everywhere. The sidewalk is covered by a crunchy carpet of reds and yellows and browns. The leaves form banks that wait along chainlink fences, eager to be snatched one at a time into a dance with the wind. Children crash through them as though they are puddles, and my daughter marvels over the visible changing of the season.

The quality of the light here is different as well, and that fact is all the more noticeable after having gone back to San Diego this past weekend. Everything is touched with a hint of gold, and the shadows seem to slant so much longer so much earlier in the day.

I enjoy this. I wonder over it all. And tomorrow.. tomorrow I get to go and take pictures of it.
