It's been a while but I have another movie review for you.

End of Watch
Staring Jake Gyllenhaal, Michael Pena. There are some co-stars however they add to the depth of the story telling however it is really about the relationships between these two police officers. Now this isn't a buddy cop film. You won't leave the theatre thinking you watched Lethal Weapon 5, or Bad Boys 3. This was a well told story that spanned approximately a year of two patrol cops in South Central Los Angeles.
The cinematography was low budget; however it made feel of the movie authentic. Unlike most cop films these guys werent super cops, they werent breaking down doors and getting into gun fights every 10 minutes or taking on a crime syndicate single handed. This was a story about two guys doing their job in a tough neighbourhood, and getting into situations that they were unaware of before hand.
There was a love story but it didnt feel tacked on for the sake of having a love story. It felt like just a natural progression of Jake Gyllenhaals character. Anna Kendrick for her brief appearances in the film shows once again that she is one of Hollywoods brightest young actors and stole almost every scene she was in without ruining it. Also Michael Penas wife played by Natalie Martinez did a wonderful job of playing a cops wife.
Without putting too many spoilers in the review this had many scenes that moved slowly but they are important and drive the story so pay attention. Also let go of anything you may think about these two actors before going in and you will see perhaps the most dynamic friendship grow in front of your eyes. There are also some very brutal scenes, so dont get snacks or go with a full stomach if you cant handle seeing some of the most brutal things man can do to man. I have a history with this so Im sure Ill have a few flashback nightmares tonight. They were brutal and very life like so consider yourself warned.
I dont give praise like this often, but picture wise this is Oscar calibre stuff. The acting of both Jake Gyllhaal and Michael Pena is believable and emotion filled. The movie drove me to tears more than once on the power of their performances. With Anna Kendrick and Natalie Martinez playing their parts perfectly they draw you in to the lives of these characters.
In conclusion if you can only see one movie this fall SEE THIS MOVIE. Worth the price of admission and MORE.

Now for some Nerd Humour!
