Well, I have made it back in one piece. I have had the best five days ever. I got to Amsterdam on my very early flight and as soon as I touched down I felt very at home. I stayed at the Hotel Sint Nicholaas, the place has changed a lot since I first started going there and I was a little upset to find they'd replaced their old rickety lift with a shiny new one. The new one although safer lacks the eligent charm of the old lift. I had a nice big double bed all to myself which I spent quite some time in, sleeping of course! It was so nice to sit outside the Cafe Dante and sipping a beer and watching the world go by.
Friday was Queens Day. The whole of the Netherlands seemed to be in Amsterdam on that day. It was the definitly the best street party I have ever been to, it was a street party like no other. All of the bars were selling beer on the street and they all seemed to have some kind of live music or DJ. I spent the day walking from place to place partying with everyone, sporting my very orange Motorhead t-shirt
If you have never been to Amsterdam for Queens day, go, I can't recommend it highly enough.
Saturday, I visited the Torture Museum. Small but entertaining to someone like me none the less. The rest of the time I spent in a variety of bars, coffeeshops and cafes meeting up with old friends, people I haven't seen in six years! I giggled lots. The red light district is still as seedy as ever, good to see some things never change, perfect for someone like me then
I should have pictures up as soon as I get my films developed.
Now, I guess it is time to go back to reality.
Lots of love and kisses too.
