Hey guys and gals,
Rather than write a boring journal entry for today I decided I'd throw out an assignment I had for class. We're designing a class newspaper with fake stories about ourselves. Well I ended up in the entertainment section. I narrowed down my story ideas to two: me as a porn star or me as a rock atar. Since it's for school ... I picked the rock star idea. Tell me what you think of it ... I wrote it up pretty quickly in between classes.

Sheridan Students Rock Career Skips a Few Beats

Last week, Sheridan College welcomed back students with a free rock concert outside the SCAET building. The headliners were the Burlington rock band Finger Eleven but roughly 15 people came for another reason: to welcome back former Print Journalism student Patrick Teskey and his four piece rock band, Splender.
Just two weeks after leaving school to pursue a career in rock music, Teskey and his band returned to support their debut CD, Canadian Idle. The band took their unique blend of rock, funk and swing to the stage at around 2pm to an estimated crowd of 4 people (one of whom looked vaguely like Sheridans own John Clark). Things got off to a quick start when the band broke into their new single, Hun, You Know I Love You Almost As Much As Golf. That song seemed to alienate half the audience, who promptly left. Halfway through the set things started to go downhill when the guitarists Gibson electric guitar caught fire during a blistering guitar solo. It seemed odd that the solo continued to resonate even as the guitarist dropped his flaming guitar. After a brief break, the band returned to the stage to introduce there next single, We Dropped Out of High School to Go to College. They plowed through that song but disaster struck when they broke into their third song. That song, titled Michelle Titus is a Goddess, fell apart one minute in when the song seemed to skip and then repeated one line over and over again. Teskey promptly stomped off stage nearly in tears.
At a post concert news conference, Teskey was quick to blame his band for playing the wrong song. He admitted to lip synching during the concert but claimed it wasnt due to sickness, but rather a severe lack of talent.
