Chris Ewen's final night at Toast in Union Sq is tonight. If you can, you should go, because it'll be fun. Dancing! You like to dance, don't you? THEN COME.

Calm down my heart, don't beat so fast
Don't be afraid just once in a lifetime

My car up and died on the way home from work today.

I am not pleased.

Lee's set, Cruella is perhaps the best thing posted to this site. It's simply the most gorgeous thing I can remember seeing. Good heavens.

I have nothing else to say. I prefer blogging on LiveJournal.
philosophocles:
the words "Lee's Set" are very easy to misread as "Let's See". You messed with my head one too many times.

Gimme a link to your livejournal then douchebag!

Visiting New York is never anything short of Epic. I know why I don't live there- I couldn't handle that lifestyle all the time.

I'm not embarrassed to admit that I like My Chemical Romance's last two albums. No shame, no dignity, nothing to lose!
philosophocles:
you were totally right about how that came across. it's not at all what i was going for (the thought actually came to me when i made a reference to punk. I meant it in a purely musical sense. Just as i would never refer to Dylan as anything but a thoughtful songwriter), as that oversimplification was not nearly... comprehensive enough. I think in the end using the A/B idea was totally not worth the potential loss of credibility if people hear it. If only i knew how to better organize my thoughts i'm sure i could actually get to the point without losing people in the fray...

you listen to any of the random shit i put on your iPod? i hope you liked least one song. I rather love Billy Talent...
anywho

Limp Bizkit > My Chemical Romance

heheheh. no really. i need to get those albums eventually. they can't be "all the rave" for no reason.

My girlfriend just played World of Warcraft with me for like an hour and a half. And said she'd come back to play more this week.

I think I just won biggrin
meli:
That's sweet. If you didn't have to pay a fee I would totally be all over that shit.

i'm not even gonna get started on the subject of video games. that would only end in disaster.

glad you liked those city pics. Unfortunately the one day that i actually decided to use my tri-pod (i'd carried it around in my backpack for like an 8 hour walk and never used it) it suddenly broke in 3 ways. So i kinda had to use the tri-pod and my hands in combination to try and stabilize the camera. Next time i visit the city, i will have waaay more and better pics like that.

How's the guitar going??

Just saw the Raveonettes at TT the Bear's Place in Cambridge. Great show. I don't listen to them nearly as much as I should. I left early due to being wicked tired and having to catch the train home, but I think I caught a fair amount. Also, the opener that I saw, The Pity Party, was good enough that I bought their EP. Good...

good man, John Flynn. Good man.

is there not supposed to be an H in your name? i never saw it written. one can only assume.
Jon (without the H) seems like a very different personality type than i would put to you. but that just may be because i think my other friend's name is spelled in that manner and he is very different from you.
tho equally cool.

anywho. yeah. I'm in california andddd. yeah

I got a Zune recently. If you're unfamiliar with the device, it's basically Microsoft's attempt to dethrone the iPod, or at least get in on the market. As a device, it's pretty spiffy. I think it has more potential than it has yet realized, especially concerning the built-in WiFi. But for now, it's an iPod with a bigger screen and an FM radio built into...

New England shudders in anticipation of my absence.

haha. you are good man Quai John Flynn

You need not fear vindictive reprisal by yours truly. i recently did some reading for a speech i gave and the literature i tapped into turned my views on the music industry in something of a new direction.

Check it out

meli:
Nadda.

Everyone keeps saying that but there are too many variables and I am paranoid,

I'm trying to learn guitar. It's going slowly, probably because of my lack of attention span, no structured lessons, and no real direction. But I learned to slowly play the intro to Kyoto Now! by Bad Religion. It's entirely made up of power chords (I love punk), so that makes it easy.

The point of that intro was to talk about the Danelectro FAB Metal...

I could sit here messing with power chords ALL DAY

So could a lot of very very wealthy rock guitarists. Dunno many punk dudes who are into the whammy bar thing. That was always more of the wanky metal guy thing. haha.

Rise Above by Black Flag's a good guitar tune. Might be above the beginner level.. but if you can get it down, it's hella fun to play all the time. biggrin

Rock on!

I really hate getting ganked after just killing some mobs. Seriously Horde on Auchindoun, stop being fail.

At least it wasn't a Blood Elf named after a DragonBall Z or Final Fantasy character. Then I would /wrists.

I'm watching the Addams Family DVDs I got last week while playing. John Astin is delightfully exuberant in his portrayal of Gomez. Way better than the movies. And...
