Agy said be sure to update, so here goes tongue

When Last We Spoke, I was going to Riot Fest in Chicago. Well, Chicago was a fucking BLAST! The weather was perfect the whole time (sunny, 70s), my cousin was fun to hang out with (of course), and the show was incredible. I got to see all the bands I wanted to, plus see some bands...

I'm flying out to Chicago in the morning. I'm going out there to attend Riot Fest, and I'm wicked stoked about it. The line-up includes:
ALL (w/ Scott Reynolds)
The Mighty Mighty Bosstones

Whoa what's up SG? It's been a while.

I've been collecting vinyl like a fiend of late. And just acquiring a whole shit-ton of music. For the record, The Gaslight Anthem's sophomore effort, The '59 Sound, is the best record of the year. Just accept this. It's totally awesome. It's funny how obsessed with them I've become, having only heard of them in December,...

Live music is still awesome!

I know- what a revelation!

I just saw Streetlight Manifesto at the Middle East. They were totally awesome. Zox was pretty cool, and their cover of "Army of Me" was totally badass. Dan Potthast was great, and really funny. I miss MU330.

More shows coming up! Streetlight again tomorrow (with the girlfriend biggrin), Phenomenauts on Wednesday, Pietasters on the 10th,...

I enjoyed the SG Interview with Brooks Wackerman of Bad Religion that went up recently. Mostly because Bad Religion would be my favorite band.

I see a number of people on the interwebs who profess to hate punk rock. Call me closed-minded, but I don't get it. I absolutely love punk.

I was told once (somewhat recently) that I'd grow out of it. Man, fuck...

I saw the Pilfers tonight. Holy goddamned shit, that was an amazing show. They played a wicked long (nearly 2 hour?) set, and I skanked pretty much the whole time. So good. I love going to shows.

Goddamn, here I am.

It's only been like a month. Not bad, right? Right?

I've spent most of the last couple months going to shows (The Ergs/Gaslight Anthem, The Dropkick Murphys, etc.) and nerding out. My friends and I have begun to play D&D, and are having a lot of fun with it. Our games don't really follow the rules to the letter, but whatever,...

So, music is all kinds of awesome. I saw The Slackers with The Stolen Records (from Boston) and it was an awesome evening of classic-type ska. So good!

Upcoming shows: (Bold shows I am definitely going to)
[2/17-2/24] Darkbuster's Hometown Throwup (Harper's Ferry) [maybe go to one of the shows]
2/23 The Gaslight Anthem, The Loved Ones, The Ergs (Middle East up)
3/05 The Horrorpops...

I don't know how I was previously unaware of DownloadPunk.com, but I'm glad to have found it. DRM-free, 192kbps punk MP3s for purchase. Looks like artists get their dues, and I get better stuff than the shite on iTunes. I grabbed Ben Weasel's solo album, and it was simple and painless. AND the album is excellent to boot! Awesome!

I also got the Queers tribute...

I watched American Hardcore tonight. I really enjoyed it. A lot of awesome music in it- Black Flag, Circle Jerks, SSDecontrol, Negative FX, early Bad Brains, etc. I'd recommend giving it a view if you're at all interested in the early hardcore scene.

Lemuria's debut LP was recently released on Asian Man Records. It is absolutely delightful. Seriously. Go listen to it now.

Also, the latest from The Ergs (Upstairs/Downstairs) is super-awesome if you like somewhat nerdy pop-punk. They have a song called "2nd Foundation" about the Foundation series by Isaac Asimov. Come on! That's awesome. And they name-check the Del Fuegos in the song "Boston,...

Why does Massachusetts breed hardcore and other various forms of "extreme" music? What the hell are those kids so ANGRY about? I'm just wondering cuz i got a job and one of the guys i work with is a straight up like metal and hardcore dude and surprise, surprise, he's from Massachusetts. You guys must be very mean to your children..
