They have a place for ICQ IDs in here. I didn't think that people used that anymore. So 5 years ago...

So it's Georgia, and the hot weather is moving in. How nice that will be to break a sweat before I'm at work in the morning; it's not that the trains aren't air conditioned, but when many, many people are crowding into them because MARTA doesn't realize that in rush ours more cabins should be added to accomodate more riders, they tend to be a bit warm (rant for the day). mad

Onto brighter things. My roommate is yelling at his video game. I'll let yous guys who know us figure out who it is. But it is kinda funny. Sorry man.... biggrin

I got this New York Times piece I need to go out and read as well. I nice study on class issues in America. I printed them all up at work, it's like 30-40 pages so I kinda feel bad about it but sometimes you just have to break the rules. That's what I like to call, "Living on the edge." Aerosmith even wrote a song about it and they made a video on MTV featuring the once popular Edward Furlong. How many of you kids remember that? (If I lived in Houston I could have referenced the much better, "Living on the edge of Houston", by the Reverend Horton Heat but you just have to work with what you got sometimes.) Anyway, I saved a beer so I could sit on the porch and read the article. People don't usually think of class when they think of America (it's one of the institutions that the founding fathers tried to steer this country away from), because it's supposedly the land where any one can start from scratch and make a fortune. Here's an interesting stat though - 30 years ago, for every $1 that your average working Joe made, the corresponding upper-class Joe made $120. Nowadays, for every $1 that working class Joe makes, upper class Joe makes $18,000. How apalling is that? It seems it's getting harder and harder to live the American dream.

Brain food:

"Down and Out in Paris and London" - Orwell
"Cocaine Nights" - JG Ballard
"Invisible Monsters" - Palahniuk

Good social insights.

Ear food:

Face the Truth - Stephen Malkmus
Helium - The Magic City
Rilo Kiley - More Adventurous

Mouth food:

Mangoes

And with that I leave you, for now...
