Urgent need of a new post here. Still unemployed and pushing into the second month. Tomorrow I will interview with the Inyo County office. Where is that you ask? Let me show you! It's in the ironically named town of Independence, CA. Dropped between two state parks and on the road to nowhere in either direction. I will drive 6 hours one way to get to this interview. Did I mention that the County's total population is 17,000? I'm pretty conflicted about this whole concept.

reposted from my tribe page:
This world is crazy insane (and if you think Im being glib, know that this post was edited to fit your screen). The things that happen here are likely random ricochets of atoms and ripples of weather caused by liquid heated by the sun. Sometimes events look somewhat like justice like when nefarious politicians are indicted for their corruption. But such concepts are fleeting in the face of the grim tragedy of random accidental death. Just so you know, a 16-year-old girl can contract and succumb to meningitis in three business days, so keep an eye on your time.

There are happy accidents and there are tragic accidents, but at least in my worldview, the path our lives take is ruled largely by accident. Its not a circumstance that Im particularly comfortable with, mind you. Id much prefer an existence where chance was not the determining factor. But it doesnt look that way from here and theres nothing to be done about that.

Well almost nothing. When the world just looks like swirling chaos, and nothing and no one can be relied on to even be around tomorrow, I take steps. I go down to Wholesome Choice and buy a bunch of Persian candy!! Judge me if you must but it makes me feel better. Lets see, I got rock candy, almond brittle, and Persian ice cream. There were a few different rock candies like little drops of amber but I was lured by the one with mysterious little specks in it. It was sweet and spicy (the way a clove is spicy); a combination of cardamon, sugar, cinnamon and saffron. Im not sure if its the thing called cardamon, but the little specks are woody like cloves too. So theres basically tiny pieces of wood in your candy. It tasted pretty good, but Im sure modern technology could have delivered the same flavors without the bits of wood. So this selection kind of lost with me. Ill have to go back and check the woodless variety. The almond brittle was the big winner. Soaked in honey. A little soft, but keeping it in the freezer fixed that. It has a texture that grinds down rather than breaks off sharply in pieces like English toffee. And of course, I luv Persian ice cream. I enjoy the use of rosewater in anything, be it Flavigny Pastilles, Hendricks gin or Persian ice cream. Persian ice cream is easily a favorite, but I should try different brands to find the best one. Candy makes everything better! Pictured above is glass candy. And although its not for eating, it still makes me happy.

P.S. Hendrick's gin is super-awsome. Much to my surprise, it mixes quite nicely with guava, lychee and probably other yummy tropical fruits. Get some!
HENDRICK'S!
