You can probably just tweak the brightness and contrast in photoshop to bring out any overly dark spots. Did you have any natural light available as a base? It sounds like you had plenty of artificial light for a shoot like this. Hmm.. What kind of camera did you use? If it's a point and shoot digital, that might be the problem. A digital SLR will usually help a lot, but of course they are not cheap.
I'm sure the set will turn out great, regardless. What matters is what's in front of the camera!
