1. my mom's in the hospital. has been since friday. no diagnosis has been made and i'm terrified it's cancer.

2. tough time sleeping, nightmares, restlessness. general feeling of unease. hate being in a different state right now.

3. a positive: one of my poems won my alma mater's literary competition. awesome.

Keep me posted on how things are going with your mom. I'll be alright if I have to teach literature courses. Anything, really, just to be immersed in this foolish womb of academia a little longer.

So, what's this all about UT-A not accepting you? That shit is my top choice... I'm so sorry to hear you didn't get in. I won't be applying until next-next fall when I graduate ('07), but I hope I can whoop my ass into shape by then. I hear it's super competitive. I may move to Austin anyway. That town is probably the best thing ever (I guess... though I've never been there, haha).
