Well, today'd the day my eldest brother is bringing mom into the Assisted Living Home. He took her over to his place yesterday for a sleepover.
It's a strange feeling. I don't think she fully grasps the fact that this will be her new home and not a temporary situation. I feel like I'm putting a pet down--it's that same type of loss and guilt at the same time.
I've cared for her over the past four and a half years the best I could, up to the point where she needed someone with her 24/7--and that can't be me and my brothers certainly aren't chomping on the bit to do it either. She needs professional care, and even though I know intellectually this is the best thing for her, emotionally, I'm finding it very hard to deal with.
