We live in a rather sick culture.
Why we allow, and even encourage circus preformers, such as tight rope walkers and those on the trapeze to work without a net is beyond me.
There is simply no reason for this total disreguard for safety, and to me, working with a net does not make the stunts performed any less impressive. And if one of these people should happen to slip and fall, i'd much rather see them bounce up in the net and try it again than to see a motionless body on the ground.
Maybe some sick people want to bring their children to the circus, buy them cotton candy, meet the clowns, see the tigers, and leave feeling ripped off if their child didnt get to experience the site of a tragic death.
Personally, I'd feel better leaving the event without seeing the tragic death, or the clowns for that matter, but that's another issue for another time.
If you're going to ride a bike, wear a helmet. If you're going to fly through the air 100 feet above a hard concrette floor covered with 2 inches of sand, get a fucking net.
