Surprisingly, being 12000 miles from home and not knowing anyone here for Christmas was not too bad at all. In fact Christmas turned out better than my wildest dreams considering the circumstances.
Christmas Eve: Went to this place called Bar Na Na for their Christmas Eve party which turned out to be really awesome. There was a Korean Ska band there that was a bit too Two-Tone for my tastes, but it was still the best Korean-made music i've heard sinse i got here. After that, a Korean punk band game on and i got treated to Feliz Navidad in Korean accented English with punk beats. Also heard was Korean Punk version of Karma Chamelion.
The best part though was meeting a great group of people there. A Kiwi came up to me and thought i was a fellow Kiwi because of my necklace which is Maori Jade...anyways, that strted off a good conversation with him and his mates and i ended up hanging with them for the rest of the night. I asked about what they were doing for Christmas and got invited to their place for dinner.
Christmas Day: I arrive in time for dinner--two bottles of wine in hand--and it's a real feast there! The food was so good with plenty of veggie options. Ok and this will sound corny, but i was so jealous that they had a freaking stove there! Doesn't sound impressive until you realize that the only thing i have to cook with is camp burners.
Sangrilla was made and we all got down to having a great damn time and making the best of being away for Christmas. Present in the room were people representing 10 different countries--America, Canada, New Zealand, Japan, Korea, England, Latvia, Belarus, Russia, and the Netherlands. We all had a blast and it was so great learning stuff about people's countries. Incidentally, the Latvian, Belarussian and Russian girls were models hehehe and reallly attractive.
Tons of alcohol was had and tons of fun as well. It was truly a Merry Christmas. Things have a funny way of working out for me haha.
Oh, and i also figured out the subway system and how to direct a taxi back to my place! I'm so pumped and proud of myself for figuring this shit out. I also found a subway map that's in English...WICKED AWESOME!!
