ah, you are almost tapped into the universal shaggs joke:
me: (to close buddy) (mock irately) WHO IS MY COMPANION?!?!
buddy: (enablingly) your companion is, of course, your radio.

Now that you mention it, "art for art's sake" has never been one of my favorites. Especially when those wacky Germans take a crack at it. I heard that Klaus Kinski's biography was quite a freak show. Maybe I'll read that and never sleep again.
my first million:
get this. how about an automatic teller that gives out bacon, instead of cash? huh? and you could use your bank card. the ABT.
think i'll play a whole bunch of "war of nerves" tonight.

Thanks for the Adam Johnson recommendation. I really enjoyed Emporium. Feel free to drop any other nuggets of wisdom on me.

Yeah, i'll let ya know what i think of "A Box of Matches". i have a feeling that Nicholson Baker is going to be one of those writers that i love to the point of reading and collecting all of his books.
lunabelle:
"After the Quake" was good! Murakami is quite brilliant. You absolutely must read "Wild Sheep Chase." I have heard that his others are great too. The book that got me hooked was "Sputnik, sweethaert." but everything I have read since has been even better.
All's quiet.
Actually, I think they were edamame.
There was a young woman eating snow peas on the bus. She had a little black plastic dish full of them.
Her hair was cut short, and dyed a dark brown. Her glasses were oval and black. Long black overcoat, looseknit white scarf, thin wrist swiveling her hand, stirring the empty husks, searching for uneaten pods.
She'd grab them and scissor the ends with her...

Doc and I rented movies, but the Peter Sellers film (Hoffman) is a brit DVD and won't play. Regionally restricted.
The other DVD, John and Faith Hubley animation, is pretty damn good, though. Doc has fallen asleep to it. She's lying in bed, I'm at the computer typing away, having a nightcap.
Emmett crawled under the covers to cozy up next to her legs.

Today is Saturday, my Friday. Emmett goes to the vet Monday, but I have no other appointments.
I have books to read: Nicholson Baker's The Mezzanine, to prepare myself for A Box of Matches, and a galley of Delillo's newest, Cosmopolis.
And with the rest of my time, I intend to sleep.

It Is pretty Important to capItalize those I's. Yeah, I think I'm gonna ask her next time I see her. Depending on if she is still acting the same. We'll see. I hope things smoothen out for you and thanks for the advice.

I would be more than honored to have you on my side as a so called suicide boy. We'll see what The people at SG say. I'm about to apply for the group as soon as I finish typing this. Do you have an MP3 of Split Lip that I could listen to? I'm always open to hear new music.
