This is just an update for those of you following the tattoo age battle in illinois.

Yesterday, November 2, 2005, the Illinois Senate cast their votes to override Governor Rod Blagojevich's veto of the house bill.

This means as of January 1 2006:

You may get a tattoo in illinois at the age of 18.

You may not enter a tattoo shop if you are under the age of 18 without a parent or legal guardian present.

Anyone caught tattooing a person under the age of 18 may be subject to a Class A Misdemeanor.

Anyone caught letting anyone under the age of 18 into a shop without a parent or legal guardian present may be subject to a Class A Misdemeanor.

I, along with others, dedicated a lot of time, money, and energy to getting this bill to pass. I've been praised and threatened because of my work, but in the end, it is worth all the work and effort, ( and threats ). I have a great sence of accomplishment . A little bit of my faith in peole has been restored. People from all over the state came toether to make a change just as our forfathers planned it..
