And so Samhaine rolls it's merry way out again. Or Halloween. Whatever. I read an interesting section in some crappy British tabloid the other day condemning Halloween as a foul American practice, trick and treating etc etc. It was somewhat ironic that the article assumed trick or treating to be synonymous with Halloween while of course condemning those youthful hooligans who did the same thing....

hope ur Haloween was a good'um!
Did the support gig with Apartment 26 last night. It was a lot of fun and we played well, although it wasn't anywhere near as important a gig as we thought it would be. Apartment 26 have changed a lot since their first album, now sounding like a vaguely annoying Incubus/Lostprophets hybrid. The industrial sound is more or less completely gone, and they were annoying...

"requested that no-one else use the dressing room" - that does sound a bit rockstarish, doesn't matter how big a band is there's no need to be arsy. I'm sure you blew them off stage dude
maynardsdick:
"rock stars" do truly lick nuts sometimes.
i wonder if it occurs to some people that you can still be a musician without having to be an elitist ass.
nice job on rocking the house.

Well my 'weekend' of Thursday and Friday has come and gone and I'm faced with the long trudge of a week back to when I can go out, dance around like a fool and so forth. My routine is so unbelievably dull. I wish I didn't complain so much, and I wish I had the dynamism within me to sort some of this out. I...

Victorian gentleman costume...hmmm...you could always say you were Mandrake The Magician (but you'd need a top hat)...
Not only do I have a place to stay after this gig tonight but I actually have a bed to sleep in not just a floor to sleep on!

Dude, sounds like you got off lightly. I've rather stupidly let two female friends co-erce me into going to their Halloween house party in drag. Argh, what have I let myself in for?!
Anyways, have a good 'un - oh yeah, just realised as well, your gig's tonight, innit? Seeing as you'll probably be reading this afterwards, hope it went well mate.

Pretty much all of the ailments seem to have passed overnight. Peculiar but by no means unwelcome. I celebrated this (and today being my day off) by going to see The League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen. Despite my fears it was quite enjoyable, although bearing only a slight resemblance to the comic by Alan Moore. After From Hell I had abandoned all hope of his work...

Ok, so. Current list of ailments:
1. Still recovering from flu, so sinuses clogged and head woozy.
2. Kidney infection, albeit one that is in remission.
3. Eye infection - painful and irritating.
4. Some kind of random obscure pain on the left side of my stomach. My dad suggests this is a hernia. Great.
5. Got struck down with a stunning headache tonight for...

I have to give credit to my fellow lifers who still rock the fuck out even when they are down and out.
in your case: homesick and regular sick
my case: mental health and sociopathic rage.
Keep on rockin'

I'm really missing York at the moment. Student life really did suit me quite well, not in the whole stereotypical drinking and casual shagging kind of way (neither of them really being my 'thing') but I definately fit into the debutante slacker mould. I don't mind working, it means I have less money worries and more to do with my time. What I miss more...

Hey, cheers for the comment. Yeah, that sounds like a pretty cool Halloween. Actually, thinking about it, I did take my girlfriend at the time to see Therapy? at Stoke Sugarmill on Halloween a couple of years back which has to be one of the best nights out ever. They started up "He's Not That Kind Of Girl" (still one of my favourite songs of theirs) with the jazzy bit and Andy Cairns annoucing "It is All Hallows' Eve people and Satan is hovering over this house! SO CLICK YOUR FINGERS FOR SATAN!!" Pure class.

Argh I cannot remember the name of the restaurant
Even tried ringing one of the guys I was working with at the time to see if he could remember but no joy.
I last ate there about 4 - 5 years ago so it may not even exist anymore. It was about 100m down a fairly plain looking street and had two floors, one of which was a basement.
Sorry mate

The flu has now moved onto the annoying cough stage. This sometimes lasts for weeks so I'm sure everyone around me is gonna be having a great, non-irritating time. Some good news for once, my band has been offered a support slot (just one gig, mind - not a tour, unfortunately) with Apartment 26. For those not in the know, they're the industrial metal band...

Just been pottering around and added a load of people to my Friend list - purely so I can click to their journals easily and quickly. So if anyone feels I'm being overly friendly, ask to be removed and I'll nod politely then stick out my tongue. There's nothing much going on round here at the moment, I have very few work hours this week...

This Year's Most Open Heartbreak was just a track off the Four Ways To Scream Your Name EP that they did a live video for. The single was called Juneau, although the original version (from the Between Order And Model EP) was indeed called Juno.
Of course, no-one but me cares in the slightest about this... And quite rightly too.

Well the 'Edit Preferences' page isn't crashing my browser anymore, which is nice. It was more likely to be my crappy computer than any kind of bug in the new site though, so I have nothing to blame except for my poor financial status. My body has recovered somewhat from the incursion of the fiendish virus (who I've decided to call 'Steve' for reasons which...

For the record, I'm in favor of the inside-of-wrists tattoos.
Edit Prefs was crashing my browser too, which I also blame on my poor crappy computer. Hopefully it's over all that now. Knock on wood.
I've never before thought of naming my viruses/colds, but I'll have to consider that next time I get sick...

OK, so first things first - the new look SG site. I have to admit at first I was reasonably horrified by it all. It seemed all blocky and crammed and weird. But I have to say after only 20 minutes or so of clicking around I'm alright with it, it's definately a 'grower'. The things that are rearranged seem mostly to be for the...

On the old layout, it didn't make sense to me to NOT have the pictures in reverse order. But I got used to that, and now that they are, it's weird.
I'm not much a fan of the art either. I think it's vulgar and trashy.
Get well soon...
