My day was lightened somewhat by a random act of human kindness. I was buying a pile of CDs at HMV (a fairly regular activity for me*) and the girl behind the counter gave me a booklet of money-off vouchers (for after Christmas) as she was putting them through the till. She then paused, said "Hang on a second", ran round the corner and returned with some booklet or other, from which she tore about half a page. She handed me it and said "Would you like to use your voucher with your purchase, sir?" She'd given me a 10 off voucher that was valid for today. For no apparent reason. It was completely out of the blue and very nice, although I'm sure her boss wouldn't have agreed

I think she thought my CDs rocked or something. My friend standing behind me was of a different opinion, as he kept hissing "Get her phone number" over and over again. I only managed to stop him asking for me by promising I'd ask for it myself if I saw her in there again and she was equally nice to me...
But whatever it was, it restored a little of my faith in people.

* As a sidenote and indicator of my utterly inane CD addiction, I went into the store with a list of about 6 CDs to look for. None of them were there, and I still managed to leave with 8 CDs. I need help.
