Since 2003, french hookers can be arrested because of "passive solicitation". Cops decide they are hookers because of their clothes, their attitude, the place where they are.
the australian sex workers association says about this law : "Scarlet Alliance, Australian Sex Workers Association, requests that you reconsider legislation which will effectively criminalise street based sex workers. Criminalising individual sex workers will not assist with positive public health outcomes. A heavy handed legal approach to addressing a social issue will not support positive outcomes for sex workers It is our experience in Australia that legislation that aims to protect the safety of street based sex workers has the best outcomes in the long term. Sex workers when empowered to do so will report crime and play an active part in civil society. This move is even more disturbing at a time when Amsterdam is erecting a monument to sex workers. Sex workers like all members of society have the right to protection by law and the right to move freely within the community without fear of prosecution."
