Well, play's done. I'll be doing wrap up stuff for a while (the garage is full of costumes and set pieces, my husband's drill got sent home with the wrong guy, final accounting report needs to be done, etc.), but I think I can say we did well. I've heard nothing but good things from our audience, the cast bonded really well, we may have another potential playwright, and I did not actually go crazy. Hooray!

To any other theatre people who read this, question: why the hell did one of my actors think that the fact that it was closing night made it okay for him to wreck a piece of the set? THAT DOES NOT BELONG TO YOU! BE CAREFUL WITH IT! I'll admit he may have some justification for being upset with me for calling him a fuckwit for doing so (language perhaps unjustified), but I don't think I am in any way in the wrong to say he should not have done that. And, of course, my reaction to being told I had overreacted was to start crying. At the cast party. Son of a bitch. My righteous indignation seems to last only until there's the slightest bit of a possibility I may have said or done something wrong myself. Including calling that guy a fuckwit. I am way too much of a pushover. And the sudden burst of crying made the beginning of the cast party awkard.

It was otherwise fun, though. danny_g continued to enjoy himself by screwing with my emotional state - he'll sing a song he knows I find depressing (say, "Hallelujah"), followed immediately by something funny like the Muppet Show Theme. tongue There was the usual flirting and storytelling and continuing of cast bonding. People threw things off of the balcony. whatever My husband and I got home at 8:30 am this morning. Then we went to see the Producers at the Jubilee (Entertaining! Acceptable! Yay!) and then went for dinner at the in-laws (sigh). My sleep schedule will may very well stay screwed up for the next two weeks, though, as I don't have to work again until the 16th.

Bye all!

Hopefully a spring fever thing, anyway. 'Cause it's already getting old and I don't fancy going through it every day forever.

I would say emotions were likely to be high-strung the night of the cast party... it at least seemed like you and the actor in question had worked things out. Yes? No? Eventually?

Most people feel a need to try and console someone they've made cry. Not everyone gets that you don't like to be touched when you're upset.
