your world traveler again. Not much new to report. I am in Sibiu, Romania right now and should be in Budapest, Hungary at the beginning of next week.

The other night in Sighisoara I had another very interesting cultural experience. Apparently Romanians are really big on their pork here. They had half of a pig roasting on a spit and shared it with everyone in...

Hope everyone had a good July 4th weekend! I did. I have to stress how cool this hostel is. Seems as though all the travelers are on their own, so we made good friends. The first night I arrived in Brasov, I headed down to the beer festival going on in the main square. It was interesting. Tons of people and the beers were only...

Most of you probably missed my last entry, so go back and check it out!

Got up this morning and headed for the train station. Bought my ticket with no problem. Boarded the train, ended up in a compartment with a 17 yr old Romanian (fluent in Eng.), 2 polish people living in canada, and 2 Romanians.
All kind of beggars everywhere...I forgot to tell...

Yesterday was rest day for me. I went out the first part of the morning to the old Fortress which was absolutely breathtaking!!! And they I came back to my private room (which was only $10) and watched tv and slept all day. Boy I needed a nice break.

Well I FINALLY made it to Romania, although things didn't go exactly how I planned. Got...

Bulgaria is quite a different world. Very nice. Only
15 years ago they were still under communist rule. It
was very interesting to talk to the owner. He is
relatively young and very smart. He speaks Bulgarian,
Russian (it used to be mandatory), English, Spanish,
and Korean. He is also very helpful.

One interesting thimg about Bulgaria is that once you
arrive at your accomodation,...

Well, I finally made it!!! Yesterday I took a train from Athens to Thessaloniki, Greece. It was a 7 hour ride with no air conditioning. I was probably the only foriegner on the train (which was cool). I sat in a compartment with 6 Greeks (2 old ladies and 4 people my age). I chatted with the younger people and the older ladies talked to...

So while I have been in Athens I have been to the Acropolis (which is under a makeover right now and has scaffolding all over it), the Zeus Temple, and the Plaka. Tried to go to the National Archaeological Museum, but it was closed for renovation. I was very dissapointed because it is supposed to be the best one in Greece. Oh well

I had...

WOW, just had an opportunity to read all your entries. I missed the ones in Rome. In pompeii is where they have the Cave Canem (Beware of dog) on the ground. And the preapus statue, the Roman god of fertility. biggrin

So did you get out an party with all the greece people when they had their parade?

I'm off to Bulgaria today. Actually I will arrive tomorrow. Have to take a train to Thessaloniki, Greece then an overnight train to Plodiv, Bulgaria. Anxious to get out of the heat. I bought lots of fruit and some goat cheese for the journey. MMMMMMMMMMMMM.

Finally made it to Athens... I love Greece. The people here seem much more friendly than Italians. It is hotter than Haides here (is that how you spell it?). Things are cheap here!

Yesterday morning at 8am I left Naples for a small town in the middle of nowhere called Caserta so that I could change trains to go to Bari. Turns out I had...
