Off the Radar

I'm getting ready to move - I'm very excited about it smile Unfortunately, this means that I'm going to be off the radar for the next week or so. I have a lot of paperwork left to do, plus I have to paint the ceiling of my bathroom (the buyer put that in as a clause... if I don't get it done to her liking I'm out $1500). I had to scrape off the "popcorn" coating on the ceiling (sometimes called "stipple") last weekend, then sand, and now paint.

SPOILERS! (Click to view)

Scraping ceilings sucks ass.

The 20' x 20' tarp inside my very tiny bathroom. I had to lay that down to catch all the water that I used to soften the stipple.

That stuff sticks like crazy. You can kinda see my plastic orange-yellow scraper buried by all that crap that came from the ceiling.

I don't know why they call it "popcorn" ceiling, they should call it "oatmeal" ceiling with that awful texture. Having cold wet oatmeal falling on you for a good chunk of the day isn't pleasant. Those are my cute toes and my favourite green sweatpants.

Me, on my ladder after 5 1/2 hours of scraping. I was frigging exhausted and I smelled like wet ceiling... gross.

EDIT: Just to show you what I'm dealing with... I took this pic last night

Note the lazer cat on the far right.

New Love

I've fallen head over heels for the Silliness Boards. It's been amazing meeting people as silly as me - sillier even. Heaven.

Flicks

I'm late writing about Cloverfield. I saw it opening night. Hmph - that is all.

Rented Rescue Dawn with Christian Bale last night. It was a true story, and kind of slow - but worth watching, if only for Steve Zhan's role. When I saw Zhan's name right at the beginning, "comic relief" immediately sprung to mind; his character was very different from anything else I've seen him in. He's proven himself as much more than just a funny guy.

Surprisingly, Sydney White was very watchable (and cute). Though it did bring up a very important issue for me... is there a difference between the terms "dork," "nerd," and "geek"? I use all three words to describe myself on a fairly regular basis (along with "clutz," "spaz" and "chronic masturbator" of course). Is there an ongoing debate somewhere along the lines of the whole Trekkie/Trekker thing?

Tattooooooo

It looks as if I'm *finally* going to be able to get the tattoo that Spaceboy designed for me back in the summertime. Hoping to book it for mid-February as kind of a present for myself getting through all the moving garbage & stress as of late.

Work

Sucks. I haven't updated much about how things are going at work... not well. I haven't had a shift in two weeks now, and I booked all next week off because of the move. I haven't been fired that I know of. I guess it's kind of a wait and see thing...?

Sad

Having Brad Renfro and Heath Ledger both pass on recently has really made me sad. I didn't know them, either of them, but they were both good actors.... I enjoyed their movies for the most part. They were also both close to my age, so I guess that makes me stop and think about life. I was so very excited to see Dark Night, and now, I don't know, I guess I almost feel guilty about being happy to see it - does that make any sense? Mind you, I'm the girl who gets sad watching Toy Story and Ernest Goes to Camp because thinking about Jim Varney makes her sad. I hope they rest in peace. My love to all those who feel lost.

I'm looking at a place tomorrow hopefully that is really close to Moogle and grocery and video stores and coffee the whole shebang. It'd be like, right out side of the Kensington district.
