New Job

Waitressing in a sports bar. I'm pretty excited. I know it's not the greatest job, and there will probably be some pitfalls due to lame and/or frisky customers, but for now I'm okay with that. If, say the movie theatre called and said, "Come work here," I don't think I'd turn them down. There's tip potential at the bar... woo hoo.

Even though I found a job in about an hour, the time I spent job-hunting prior to that sucked ass. Apparently, pink hair does not impress some older, small-town Canadians. I went against myself and took out my labret piercing (on the advice of a friend, older) - I don't think it helped me any. I went into a certain card shop, caught the attention of the manager and stated that I would like to drop off a resum. She told me point blank that she didn't accept resums from people under the age of 20. Okay, deep breath. I calmly explained that I was 26, with quite a bit of retail experience, that I would be a dedica- "I have all the staff I need for now, thanks." She handed me back my resum. Meanie.

It wasn't much different at the jewlery/watch shop. "Are you over 21?" the manager asked me (in the snootiest possible voice). Now, I may have pink hair, but I was dressed professionally with all of my tattoos covered by modest clothing. And I don't think you can even see my tongue piercing, unless I show it to you.

Emmy seems to be doing fine. No more fits or peeing around the house, that I've seen, anyway. The rescue is going to help us get into their vet, which will make it more affordable. I'm happy about that. Thank you all for your kind words and advice, I appreciate it sooooo much.

Question of the Day

Is there anything better than curling up under a blanket with a bowl of buttered popcorn, watching 'Return of the Jedi' on a Friday night?
