My name is martin im 37 and It was only a couple of years ago I was diagnosed as bieng bipolar..
As a child growing up I always new that I was different, I was constantly getting into trouble, at school and at home. Through my childhood and teenage years, the diagnoses and treatment for my condition simply wasn't around at that time but access to treatment for mental health has thankfully massively improved over the years..
So I ended up with a label of the naughty crazy kid. A label that stuck with me for most of my life, causing my attempted suicide in my 20s..luckily I failed, and was found..
So I am now in my late 30s and I now have this other label.. people still treat me differently to this day I guess they always will but society as a whole is improving with it's level of understanding.. which I hope will continue to improve..
But it is the models and members if this site that can massively change attitudes. I firmly believe that the real free thinkers and truly accepting people are in fact the models and members of this site. You are the ones that dare to dream that dare to do your own thing no matter what, to realise that there should never be a word stigma and do finally arrive at a destination where we are truly all equal.
